TDS Assistant
Staff
TDS students who are in advanced classes often work as Assistant
Teachers. They are responsible to help with warm-ups, as well as, adding
friendly, helpful, individual attention to our classes. This extra
attention is especially important in the "little ones" classes.
The
TDS
teacher training program
Students begin assisting classes at
age twelve. By age 16 the are allowed to lead warm-ups and do
demonstrations. By age 18, they become Junior Teachers for one year,
teaching along with a veteran, experienced teacher. They are then allowed
to be full fledged teachers responsible for their own classes.
Some teachers come into the teacher
training program already at full teacher status if they are qualified.
Miss Debbie scans all candidates and auditions young teachers to enter the
program. With careful screening and helpful "hints and tips", Miss Debbie
has helped launch many teaching and professional careers both here
and around the country.
